Settling in....

Fall is here, Thanksgiving around the corner with Christmas hard on its heels and the Midwest Civil War Civilian Conference right behind it. With the reenacting season ended you'd think things would slow down a little, but somehow it all seems to happen faster. We're all working hard renewing inventory, catching up on projects and preparing for the wonderful family time coming up.

This year, we of P. Palmer will get together at Marta's home for Thanksgiving. Kathy and family coming down from Madison & Kay and family driving in from Ft Wayne. We'll spend the weekend together. The guys get to watch football and install a new microwave in Marta's kitchen, and we ladies will tackle some fun handwork.

Kay and Kathy are already working on presentations for the Conference. Kathy will be teaching Tunisian Crochet at a workshop on Friday. She's discovered several period stitches which are no longer part of modern stitchery. But we are most excited by having Elizabeth Stewart Clark as our keynote speak at the conference.

So follow along as we work on new exciting things to share. And, please, keep in touch. We love questions and comments.

We had a great weekend at Cedar Creek Oct 15-17. We'd never attended that event before, so it was new territory for us. We had the opportunity to meet lots of new people there, and in spite of the rather brisk winds, the weekend was very enjoyable. Thanks to everyone who stopped by, and do keep in touch.

It was lovely driving through Western Maryland before turning south to the event. The trees were dressed in all of their fall glory. The colors there are much brighter than our more muted golds and oranges here in the midwest. Plus Marta got to spend some time with her sister and Brother-in-law from western MD, and Kathy's sister and brother-in-law came up from the DC area. Good company!

A new idea

Blogging is one of the fastest growing ways that a business can keep in touch with its customers. To that end, we have begun a blog for P Palmer so that you can reach us direct with questions and comments.

We'll also use this as a means of communicating about our travels, the latest workshops, and when new patterns will become available. Every so often we'll give you a tip to help make your projects come together faster too.

Right now, we are working hard on our new patters for boys. The first one will be a suit for boys in size 4,5,6 consisting of side buttoned short pants, vest, jacket and long sleeved underbody. It'll be available in those 3 sizes and in 4 widths. Check out the boy's size chart on Kay's website: http://www.originals-by-kay.com/measuring/KayFigBoyssizechart.htm to see what I mean.

The next pattern will be for boy's fly front trousers and after that a 3 piece suit with jacket, vest and fly front knickerbockers in size 6,7,8.

Meanwhile, Kathy is working on translating the period instructions for Tunisian Crochet from French and German into English in preparation for her workshop at the Midwest CW Civilian Conference in January. She'll then publish a booklet of patterns and instructions. http://www.midwestcwcivilian.com/.

So follow us along as we add to the blog and keep you all up to date with our business.
